Wryter Cup

qualifier for the match against the French press

The same best-three method, but with penalties set aside, so the order changes. It counts the last two meetings of last season and the first six of this one, up to Captain's Day. The final column shows how many places a member moves compared with the Golden Putter once the penalty shots come off.

Meetings

the eight that count · 2026

Outside the season: the June Muswell Hill day, the November scramble, and the MZ Khan and Emsley Carr knockouts are run by hand and do not count towards either table.

Members

Every member's WHS index, PGS handicap, age allowance and any carried penalty. The PGS handicap is what they actually play off: 95% of the WHS index (100% for the March medal), less any winner's penalty. Select a name for the full record. Telephone and email are shown to the secretary only and are never seen by other members.

Penalties

shots off for winning · carried into next season

A penalty here is a mark of success, not a punishment: it's the shot a winner hands back to the field. Division 1 winner and runner-up lose one shot; Division 2 winner loses two, runner-up one. It lasts the rest of the season it is won plus all of the next, then falls away.
